Wooden Desktop Mirror
I bought the mirror after returning from my trip to my home country South Korea. My dad had met a new partner at the time, who was a lovely woman working as a psychologist. She was very keen to meet me and because she had a sister who was a beautician, she gave me lots of skin care products and basically taught me the basic skin care routines (not even joking, she even gave me a chart with instructions and everything). I realised at the time that I had been a bit slack with self-care, and it was nice to feel beautiful as a woman again. Once I came back, I purchased the mirror so I could put it on my dressing table. It was a nice reminder of her and to take care of myself. She and my dad are no longer together, but I still have fond memories of her and her handwritten letter displayed on my dressing table.

Handmade notebook
I have always loved stationary, notebooks and paper. Blank pages are so clean and perfect and speak of the possibility of writing some poignant notes, a poem, a thought, or making a beautiful sketch. I always find it hard to resist buying beautiful items like this book – even if I don’t need them! I love this one in particular because it’s handmade from a market (I can’t remember where exactly, maybe my hometown). I remember going with my family. I particularly loved the inlaid flowers in the pages because I love nature, and no lines – it’s so beautiful! Almost too beautiful to write in… and I guess I never did. I have many items like this – which were too precious to use, and sat waiting for the perfect moment. Now I have moved to a new house and i’m expecting a baby, I’m trying to let go of these items and allow them to go somewhere they’ll be used and loved. Instead of gathering dust here!

Record cup stand retro rockabilly
I was making handbags out of records and bought a whole stack of records from a second-hand store. The handbags looked great, but they were very hard to make, and I was worried they wouldn’t be strong enough to use. I was frustrated and disappointed that I couldn’t get my idea to work. I stopped making the bags and was left with the records. I saw someone make a cupcake stand using records, so I thought I would give it a try and see if I could sell them.

Bird lamp
I purchased the lamp for my daughter’s bedroom to match a painting in her room that was drawn with birds. It was a great night lamp and helped her sleep at night. She is now married and didn’t need it any more. I do still like the lamp but thought it was best to let someone else enjoy it
